Aetna and Banner Health Launch a New Joint Venture Health Plan in Arizona

PHOENIX (October 19, 2016) Aetna and Banner Health today announced the creation of a jointly owned health plan company, Banner | Aetna, that will focus on improving quality, affordability and the patient experience. The partnership will combine Banner’s care management capabilities and high-quality facilities, providers and delivery system with Aetna’s leading health plan expertise, cutting-edge analytics and health information technology. Together, they will provide health coverage to employers and their employees in Maricopa and Pinal counties with plans for future statewide expansion.

Banner Health Network returns its “best-ever” result for Medicare and its beneficiaries as part of the Pioneer ACO

PHOENIX (August 19, 2015) Banner Health Network has delivered its best-ever result in a third successful year as part of the Pioneer Accountable Care Organization. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation reports that in Performance Year 3 (2014), BHN returned more than $29 million in savings over the predicted financial benchmark, while at the same time improving its quality score by nearly 10 percent over the previous year.

Banner Health Network, Banner Network Colorado announce senior leadership changes

Lower costs, more proactive care in Aetna and Banner Health Network accountable care collaboration

Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Arizona Advantage adds executive leadership

PHOENIX (August 11, 2014) Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona Advantage, an affiliate of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ), has named David Firdaus as Chief Executive Officer. BCBSAZ Advantage is a joint venture between Banner Health and BCBSAZ to sell Medicare products. Firdaus previously served as Senior Vice President of Population Health for Accretive Health, Inc.

The agreement includes support for the 50,000 Medicare fee-for-service patients covered under the Pioneer ACO shared savings program and members in Aetna’s ACO relationship with Banner Health Network.
